SQL server management studio (SSMS):
It combines the features of Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, and Analysis Manager in SQL Server 2000 into a single environment. It works with all components of SQL Server such as Reporting Services, Integration Services, SQL Server Mobile, and Notification Services. It is an integrated environment for accessing, configuring, managing, administering, and developing all components of SQL Server.
SQL server configuration manager(SSCM):
It combines the functionality of the following SQL Server 2000 tools: Server Network Utility, Client Network Utility, and Services Manager. SQL Server Configuration Manager also includes the ability to set service properties for the following services:
SQL Server
SQL Server Agent
Analysis Services
Report Server
Microsoft Search
Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC)
Full-Text Search
Database engine tuning adviser:
Database Engine Tuning Advisor is a tool that analyzes the performance effects of workloads run against one or more databases. In SQL server 2000, some Database Engine Tuning Advisor functionality was provided by the Index Tuning Wizard.
SQL server profiler:
Microsoft SQL Server Profiler is a graphical user interface to SQL Trace for monitoring an instance of the SQL Server Database Engine or Analysis Services.
SQL server surface area configuration:
Surface area means the services and functionalities that sql server exposes to the outside. For new installations of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, some features, services, and connections are disabled or stopped to reduce the SQL Server surface area. For upgraded installations, all features, services, and connections remain in their pre-upgrade state.
Use SQL Server Surface Area Configuration to enable, disable, start, or stop the features, services, and remote connectivity of your SQL Server 2005 installations. You can use SQL Server Surface Area Configuration on local and remote servers.
Report services configurations:
Reporting Services Configuration tool is used to deploy a Reporting Services installation. It can be used locally or remotely
Analysis service deployment wizard:
The Analysis Services Deployment Wizard uses the XML output files generated from a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS) project as input files. These input files are easily modifiable to customize the deployment of an Analysis Services project. The generated deployment script can then either be immediately run or saved for later deployment.
Business Intelligence Development Studio:
It is a development environment, based on Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, used for creating business intelligence solutions is the primary environment that you will use to develop business solutions that include Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services projects. Each project type supplies templates for creating the objects required for business intelligence solutions, and provides a variety of designers, tools, and wizards to work with the objects.
